In this chapter, we show how an important interaction design technique, persona analysis, can be used in tandem with ICONIX Process to help create a more focused product.
A persona is a description of a fictional person. The person is given a name and a brief description of his or her job, goals and aspirations, level of ability—anything that might be relevant to how that person uses and perceives the product you’re designing.
The approach that this chapter proposes makes actors more concrete, more tangible for project stakeholders (the businesspeople—usually nontechnical—who must contribute to and understand the use cases). Many people find actors and use cases too abstract, so this chapter addresses the issue head-on.
